Shipping and Handling
The Alaska Bird Observatory is a non-profit organization. We always try to use the most economical rate for shipping. When possible we try and use U.S.P.S. flat rate boxes for shipping as most often the cost of shipping materials outweighs the savings of a cheaper shipping method. We do charge a handling fee of $4.00 for any packages that require a trip to the post office, this covers mileage and staff time. For an estimate of postage costs please see the U.S.P.S. website for current flat rate box rates. Smaller items such as patches, stickers, single t-shirts and bird checklists fit in smaller envelopes that can be mailed directly from our office, therefore postage is minimal.
