K-12 School Programs
ABO’s school programs are centered around our research efforts at Creamer’s Refuge. These programs are provided in partnership with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game. They are currently available mornings only in May, August, & September, and generally last for 2.5 hours. The program includes an exploration of the natural and human history of Creamer’s Field as well as a visit to ABO’s bird banding station. At the banding station, students and teachers participate in ABO’s research efforts, learning about mist nets and bird banding. Other topics include bird identification, migration, and conservation. Teachers are invited to sign up for these programs during designated periods.
For Fall 2010: Programs are available August 19-September 30. Please call ABO beginning at 9 AM on August 11 through 12 PM on August 17 to request a program. The schedule will be available by 5 PM on August 17. You may also email Tricia at tblakeATalaskabirdDOTorg.
