Funding Your Project

The Frosty Feathers Project can be done with very few expenses.  Feeders can be made from recycled materials and you can ask for seed donations from community members and local businesses.  There are also a number of funding opportunities available from local, state, and national sources.  Some suggestions are below.

Small grants available to teachers in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District.  If you are outside of the Fairbanks North Star Borough, check with your school district office for a similar program.

Challenger Learning Center of Alaska, scholarship opportunities for Alaskan teachers

The Captain Planet Foundation funds hands-on environmental projects for youth.

Both small and large grants for K-12 science teachers sponsored by Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. and administered by the National Science Teachers Association

Competitive grants available through the State of Alaska Department of Education & Early Development
