Helpful Hints For All Applicants
- Keep your cover letter brief, telling us why you want the position and summarizing your qualifications and experience.
Emphasize skills and experience relevant to the position for which you are applying.
- When describing your banding experience, please state the approximate number of birds you have banded.
- Make sure you complete all items on the ABO application (aboApplication.pdf)
form - especially ALL of the information requested under "Employment Experience" on page 2.
- Have someone else proofread your resume. Spelling and grammatical errors may indicate that you don't pay attention to detail.
- Do not include your transcript.
- ABO provides training opportunities for field biologists and educators through our internship program.
Interns are not employees. Internships last from 3-6 months, during which interns learn skills, techniques,
and methods through participation in research, education, and outreach.
A Note for Foreign Applicants
ABO is happy to consider job and internship applications from residents of Canada and Mexico,
as temporary workers from these countries are eligible for TN-1 work visas through the North American
Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). We will also accept applications from residents of other countries
who already hold an appropriate permit to work in the United States.
