ABO's new home is located on the grounds of Wedgewood Resort.
The new building is located in the northeastern corner of Wedgewood Resort. The back of the new building is adjacent to the boundary of Creamer's Field Migratory Refuge. The contractor is just beginning excavation.
This blueprint of the floorplan shows the basic layout of the new building. There's a conference/education room on the right side, small offices on the left and a small retail store space in the middle. The real blueprints are available at ABO's business office.
This blueprint of the front elevation shows how the new building will appear from the front.

The exterior walls start to go up, and the front porch has been poured. The leaves are starting change on the deciduous trees behind the new building.
19 Sep 01
The exterior walls are mostly up, and the interior partitions are coming along. The deciduous leaves are about half gone, but the weather remains very mild.
20 Sep 01
The rafters start to go on. The heating oil tank has been delivered and is waiting to be installed. Another beautiful autumn day in Fairbanks but the leaves, alas, are going.
21 Sep 01
The rafters are almost done, except for the cross-rafters in front.
21 Sep 01
The cross-rafters over what will become the entryway and store area go up. The roof itself should go on next week.
28 Sep 01
The exterior walls are mostly framed in, and most of the roof sheathing is in place. It's starting to look like a building. The leaves are mostly gone, but the weather is still glorious.
13 Oct 01
The exterior walls are closed in. The roof is shingled and completed. Just in time to cope with the snow.
30 Oct 01
The building is temporarily wrapped in plastic to allow installation of windows, doors and exterior siding.
03 Nov 01
Under the plastic, the windows and doors are mostly in and the exterior siding is nearly finished. It looks very sharp.
23 Dec 01
The interior sheetrock is installed and most of the joints are taped. This view shows the windows in the front, looking from the gift shop towards the parking lot.
08 Jan 02
The exterior, excepting only the front door, is completed. The interior walls are being spackled and painted.
28 Jan 02
The exterior front is finished, and we think it's a mighty handsome building. The front door and railings look very nice.
28 Jan 02
The interior walls are finished, the doors are hung and the trim is being installed. This is a view of the classroom. The saw has already been taken out, and carpet will go in next.
04 Mar 02
The inside is done! An excellent job by Fountainhead Development and its contractors. We have moved in and it's pretty wonderful. Come by and visit! Here's a map.
19 Aug 02
Landcaped, paved and made pretty. We think this is a gorgeous building.
19 Aug 02
Behind the building, we have a new bridge giving us access to the southeast corner of the Creamer's Field Migratory Bird Refuge.
04 Jan 03
The Donor Wall is well under way, featuring beautiful cermaic tile birds and the names of ABO's donors. There are still a few spaces left.
