We are lucky to live in a world full of birds. Did you know that there are more birds than people?!
Birds are fascinating. They fly, they eat all sorts of interesting things and live in many different places. Birds are an important part of the ecosystem. They distribute seeds and berries, eat insects and are a part of the food chain.
During your visit to Alaska Bird Observatory (ABO) at Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge you will learn about boreal forest songbirds. You will see birds up close and discuss their behaviors. You will also learn about the habitats birds use. This book will help you remember the things you learned during your field trip. In this book there are 18 songbirds, a hawk and a falcon, organized in taxonomic order which is the same order in a standard field guide. On the last pages are some activities, a check list to keep track of the birds you see and a page to write about your visit.
