Ruby-crowned Kinglet

Like other Gnatcatchers, Ruby-crowned Kinglets are very active.
Description: This tiny bird is olive-green with 2 white wing bars and an eye ring. Males have a hidden ruby red crown that is displayed when they are excited. They weigh about as much as 2 pennies.
Food: insects.
Habitat: mixed open forests.
Winter: southern United States to Mexico and Guatemala. They are one of the first migrants to return in the spring.
