Slate-colored Junco

This sparrow's hood makes it look mysterious. They are one of the most common birds in the forest. They will come to sunflower seed feeders late into the fall and early in the spring.
Description: The head is dark gray, breast is white, beak and legs are pale yellow and back is brown. The outer two tail feathers are white.
Food: seeds, berries and insects.
Habitat: mixed forest edges.
Winter: east of the Continental Divide from southern Canada to northern Mexico.
